In Philippians 1:6 Paul says (Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ: The Book of Philippians. A book of peace (Phil. 4:7) And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. …God’s peace is different from the world’s peace. It is not found in positive thinking, in absence of conflict, or in good feelings. You see real peace comes from knowing that because God is in control, our citizenship Christ’s Kingdom is sure, our destiny is set, and our victory over sin is certain. Christ provides the strength (Phil. 4:13) I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me. …Paul was content because he could see life from God’s point of view. He focused on what he was supposed to do, not what he felt he should have. He had his priorities straight and was grateful for everything God has given him. He had detached himself from the nonessentials so that he could concentrate on the eternal.
Often the desirer more or better possessions is really a longing to fill an empty space one’s life. To what are you drawn when you feel empty inside? How can you find true contentment? The answer lies in your perspective, your priorities, and your source of power.
